Good stand alone Heavy Bag August 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a big guy, and it is difficult to find a decent quality stand alone heavy bag, that can stand up to me. I would prefer to have a heavy bag that I can attach to the ceiling, but where I currently live it's not an option. After 15 years of martial arts, and seeing all kinds of heavy bag fads, I finally found this one, and love it. It has a great base, that is heavy enough that I don't tip it over and the base does not slosh all over (I filled mine up with both sand and water to make it extra heavy). It can take my hardest hits and kicks and still stay upright (no other stand alone bags I have used ever have). Yes it does move a bit, but that just makes you keep up with your footwork, constantly moving around it and making for a better workout. I also like the fact that it is tall, and you don't have to readjust the height. Of all the heavy bags I have used this one has been the best. Still using it, and so far the bag seems to be standing up to the constant onslaught and abuse, we'll see if it stands up over the long haul. Yes I would recommend this to a friend.
WaveMaster XXL August 2, 2008 Excellent product. Been beating the tar out of it for a month and it's still in great shape. Great range of target zones and well balanced.
Perfect for keeping in shape July 20, 2008 I used to train at Billy Blanks studio - but with gas prices as crazy as they are I don't want to make the 30 min drive anymore....so I bought this bag. I filled it with sand and then filled it with water on top of the sand. It barely moves...its perfect! Love it!
Great Bag July 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had this bag for a few days, and the more I use it the more I like it. At first, I was a little disappointed because I thought it would tip....so I held back on my punches. I have it filled with water, and the base would lift off the ground just from my jabs. Now, that I'm used to it...I'm laying into it and I haven't knocked it over yet.
In fact, I think it would be pretty difficult to knock it over with just the force of a punch or even a kick. That is, unless these blows became pushes where you hit the bag and kept pushing with your fist or foot instead of drawing them back as quickly as possible as fighters are trained to do.
With water in the base, it does slide around the room some but if you rotate around the bag this is sort of countered.
All in all, I'd rather have a heavy bag that hangs from the ceiling, but if this is not feasible, this bag is an excellent substitute. I'm certainly glad that I purchased it.
