About Gramicci
It's the early 1980s: MTV and stone-washed jeans; movies like Bladerunner, Diner, and Ghandi rule. Mike Graham, inspired by a love of surfing and climbing, launched Gramicci from his garage in Southern California.  Reminds me of the old Gramicci, but not the same October 19, 2008
I had several pairs of gramicci shots (the ones with the quick draw string). I wore them until they had wholes in them. When I found these on Amazon, I was excited - a replacement for my trusty shorts... But. The draw string is smooth - too smooth. It doesn't have enough friction to hold the belt in place. If I pull the string so that it is comfortable for me, add a cell phone on the side, maybe load a pocket with a key or two, the belt slips and down comes the shorts. Funny when you think about it, but not so good for out of the house use. I'd pass on the shorts the next time. Otherwise, a nice pair of shorts.
grammie shorts - beware slippery draw October 11, 2008
I have a had a few pairs of these shorts in the past and they were by far the greatest short I have owned. Durable, comfort, style - just the best.
Unfortunately, I just bought 2 pairs of these shorts and the built in draw belt seems to be made of a different material than my past grammies or the buckle is different - both pairs loosen up quickly and require constant tightening. It is really maddening and frustrating.
This is a real drag. I suggest you consider this problem before purchase.
 Old stand-by with new belt September 10, 2008
I bought these for my husband to replace his favorite old, much-loved Gramicci shorts. He also has owned several pairs of the long pants in the same style over the years and wears them all the time. His only concern about the new shorts was that the belt material has changed and is much slicker and thinner than the old grosgrain belt, so it doesn't hold as well. The jury is still out, but I may have to replace the new belt to keep the pants snug around the waist.
Make your summer more comfortable July 14, 2008
If you are like me, you have tried lots of different shorts. Different brands, different materials. These original Grammicci shorts are the most comfortable shorts you will find (once you have worn them a couple of months). If I am not going to be getting wet or jogging, you will find me wearing these.
My only complaint is that they eventually give out sooner than I would like. I am not ready to let go of them when my wife says she has patched a pair for the last time. Like any good cotton canvas-type pant, the longer you wear them, the better they feel. About the time they are soft as silk, they fall apart.
 What a great hiking short June 10, 2008
Simplicity is the order of the day with this short - tough,comfortable, basic. How many times have you snagged yourself on the gusset in the pocket of your overly-fancy hiking short? Not with the Gramicci short. This dude was out hiking or climbing when they went to hand out the stupid fancy features!
If I could make it better I would find a way to make the right pocket where my keys and pocket knife and change tougher. Other than that, this is my favorite short - no question.
