What could it hurt to try? November 11, 2009 L. K. Feldman (Seattle, WA) Friends had told me how wonderful the cubes were in their bags, but I used the "suck it up bags". The cubes tend to keep my things better organized and visible. I use the rolling bag of Steves', so these fit perfectly. I was surprised at how much more organized and visible everything is. I just bought another set for our next three month tour to South America,
A must for extended travel November 8, 2009 Atollus (TN) I used these with the Rick Steves Convertible Carry On and it was a perfect combination. I used the two smaller cubes for a week's worth of socks, underwear, and t-shirts and the larger cube for pants, sweaters, and other long-sleeved shirts.
Pros:
- It give's you a goal of fitting x amount of clothes into them to ensure that you have room for other items like toiletries, an extra pair of shoes, or souvenirs.
- In the event that your bag gets a thorough search at security, it's easier to get everything back in.
- When repacking for the trip home, they help you ensure that everything takes up the same amount of space.
- If you have a Rick Steves carry-on-sized bag (Convertible Carry-On, Back Door, Roll-Aboard, etc.), the dimensions of these cubes are more than likely ideal for it.
Cons:
- For the sake of coming up with a con, I'll say that the ends of the sections of mesh can get caught rather easily in the zippers.
I've only used these a few times, so I can't speak for the durability.
So happy I ordered these October 24, 2009 GinSing (USA) I just ordered these almost at the last minute to use on a 3 day trip to a business conference.
I wanted to pack very light and very efficiently with minimal delays (and annoyance) at the airport, and boy, am I glad I ordered these!
I had also ordered (from QVC) the Travelon 14" Wheeled Carry-On and knew that I was going to want to be able to have my items easily accessible but also not have them rummaged through too much by security because you know how sometimes what goes in once doesn't necessarily go back in again! (LOL)
Anyway, the two items could not have worked more perfectly together and I highly recommend them. It made all that part of the trip very pleasant and stress free, plus kept everything neat and it its place in the hotel room (which I shared with others).
I will use these again and again and order more sets.
Great for organization! October 8, 2009 maggie The small cubes were perfect for my shirts. The larger cube was about the size of two of the smaller cubes put together, so I used it to pack two stacks of shirts side by side. It's amazing how it made so many clothes into small, compact, and manageable blocks. One thing that could be considered a downside: on my last trip, when I checked in my luggage, one of my bags was 15 pounds overweight (the bag only contained clothes, no shoes), even though it didn't *look* all that big. But since everything was neatly organized and compartmentalized, it was easy to pick out stuff to take out.
Really makes a difference. October 1, 2009 SAM (Indianapolis, IN United States) I was skeptical that some packing cubes would really revolutionize my packing for an upcoming vacation, but all of the positive reviews made me give them a try. I'm very, very glad that I did. These were absolutely indispensable and allowed our carry-on suitcases to stay wonderfully organized over 2 full weeks of constant unpacking and repacking. You no longer have to wrinkle your entire wardrobe to find that one specific pair of socks because you know exactly where it is (and you can SEE it through the mesh)! They flatten down if you don't fill them all the way and also expand to fit a lot more clothes than you would think. I stuck one in my backpack to keep certain items easy to find on our day trips as well. At this price, you'd be silly not to try them ... these packing cubes really do make a huge difference and will eliminate a big source of stress during your travels.
