| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The Ray-Ban Wayfarer is a design of sunglasses manufactured by Ray-Ban since 1952, when their design was a revolutionary break from the metal eyewear of the past. Wayfarers enjoyed early popularity in the 1950s and 1960s, especially after they were worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. Though the sunglasses had faded from the limelight by the 1970s, a lucrative 1982 product placement deal brought Wayfarers to their height of popularity. Since the mid-2000s, the sunglasses have been enjoying a revival. Wayfarers are sometimes cited as the best-selling design of sunglasses in history and have been called one of the most enduring fashion icons of the 20th century.

Ray Bans September 13, 2009 Doc Dave (USA) I had a pair I wore for 8+ years and they had a accident with slamming car hood. Repalced with exact same but I have to go awhile while they adjust temselves to my head. Diffently get the glass lenses.
Nothing to write home about April 16, 2009 L. Williams (Columbia, SC) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
The glasses are over priced for the value. The lens are not polarized and does not give a perfectly clear view.

I bought this product with a specific idea in mind, and i was pleased to see that i got what i wanted.
The original style, recently renewed, still the best October 24, 2008 New England Yankee (Northern New England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Ray-Ban recently came to their senses and addressed some of the quality issues that had crept into the Wayfarer line over the years. The result was a renewal of the line, with a significant pick-up in quality. The pair I recently purchased is the equal - or better - of the pair I purchased decades ago. Wayfarers have superb, distortion-free lenses, bulletproof hinges, and the plastic frame will hold up through years of regular use.
Be careful when purchasing Wayfarers. There are a lot of style and size variations in the line, and there are a lot of off-brand knockoffs and fakes, too. These are real, and the original style that people have in mind when talking about Wayfarers.
Like many classic accessories, Wayfarers come in and go out of style periodically. The nice thing about owning a top-quality classic, though, is that if you take care of it, you can put it away for a few years when it's out of fashion, and it will have been worth the storage when you unearth it again.
My own use is more mundane than fashion, however. I've found that Wayfarers, unlike all the wrap-around sunglass types, work better for me for motorcycle use than anything else, plus they fold and store flat.
Highly recommended.
Wayfarers RB2140 July 24, 2008 snactres 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I was going to order these online, but I decided to go to a sunglasses store in my area to make sure I was buying the right one, because wayfarers seem to have "small" differences that can amount to a lot. I ended up buying them in the store because the saleslady helped me out a lot, these things are sold on a commission basis, and she deserved it.
I got the Wayfarers in black with green lenses in the official description of: 901-5022 Ray-Ban RB2140. These are the 50 mm lenses, and they actually fit my face really well. I tried on the 54mm lenses, and while you look at them on the displays, the difference between the small and the large isn't really noticeable...but when you try them on, it's obvious, at least for my face. I have a wide, round face so I really was expecting to not be happy with any wayfarers. I don't know if these are the polarized ones, but I'm pretty sure if they are, I would've been told about it. See Brock Lander's excellent review (I think it's featured on the page for RB2113) which helped me immensely in realizing the different kinds of wayfarers. The large ones (54mm) lean a bit too much for me and my cheekbones get in the way. These are the ones I think of when I hear "wayfarer." Luckily, the smaller ones (50mm) have the same look and they don't overwhelm my face.
I was told that Wayfarers are supposed to "lean" slightly on your face, and with mine, the lean doesn't look as stupid as I thought it would on me. I tried the other colors on and while they would look great on other people, I don't have the face to pull them off. Even though these are made of plastic, they seem very sturdy and I found out that Ray-Ban's Wayfarers were one of the first sunglasses to use plastics instead of the usual metal.
To conclude my review, I highly recommend these. Even if you thought you couldn't pull it off, like me, go to your local sunglass store. The official Ray-Ban website has a store locator. Try as many styles as you can, they kind of look the same (at least to me) just sitting there in the case or display but they look so different on you. Thanks for reading my review and I hope this helped!
