i bought this jacket for winter bike riding in minneapolis. once you get going this lightweight jacket does the trick. on cold days its worth wearing a decent wicking shirt, but this jacket is totally worth the money. on a windy day in seattle this year i was wearing a heavy duty carhartt hoodie and switched between that and the windstopper, and the difference was night and day. good for pretty much any condition.

I got this jacket for early morning runs in below-freezing New York City weather. It's perfect. I pretty much never get cold wearing it. But it's also not overly warm. I sweat a bit, but for the most part, this jacket keeps me dry.

This is by far the best fleece that I have ever owned. It lives up to its name, it does stop the wind and is much warmer than I expected. Besides the great looks the jacket has pit zips which come in handy when you start your hike in the cold and then it warms up or your body temperature increases due to activity you can open them up and cool you off.
Quality construction from a well known outdoor clothing company.

I own this jacket, a long wool topcoat, and a heavy Carhartt parka. I got this Mountain Hardwear jacket at REI on closeout and have been extremely happy with it. (For full price, I'd still like it, but would have felt that I had been overly indulgent.)
This is my first Minnesota winter with the jacket and have found it to be useable to sub-zero temperatures if I was reasonably active outside. That is, walking quickly or shoveling.
For work in which you have to stand around more, the Carhartt is a better (MUCH thicker) option, and for the orchestra the overcoat is more appropriate. I'm especially impressed with how light this jacket is for its warmth and wind-cutting ability.
On sizing, I am 6'6" but long-legged, and the jacket is just long enough with my shirt tucked into jeans.

This is the best jacket I've ever owned. I own TFN Denali, Carhart, and a few others and this is my go-to jacket for when the temperature drops. I just took it on a backpacking trip witch included 20 degree temps and snow. This jacket performed wonderfully. To top it off if is certainly stylish enough to wear casually. Pit Zips, Windstopper, Athletic Fit, Thin, Light. Can't say enough about MH and this jacket. Everything I have by MH is pretty awesome.
